Alexandra Maria Lara (born in Romania) is a Romanian actor and TV host. She's best known as the star of Rush, Downfall Youth Without Youth Control and Rush. Since she was the sole child of Romanian actress Valentin Platareanu, Alexandra started her professional career in showbiz early. She was a lead actress in TV dramas as young as the age of 16. The critically acclaimed character she played in the show Der Tunnel, Alexandra went into other notable role like Adolf's secretary, Traudljunge, on Downfall. This film won an Oscar and garnered critical praise. The Reader and Der Baader Meinhof Komplex are other Oscar nominated films that feature women. Alexandra has been involved in various notable films, at both a national and international level. This includes her work on the British biographical film Control Greek Drama film The Dust of Time as well as French miniseries about the history of Napoleon. Furthermore, she was part of both the Cannes Film Festival jury and Transylvania International Film Festival.
